The name New School Electric is actually the DBA of my original company name. My original business name caused Google search engines to classify my company as something other than an electrical contractor. Thankfully, I noticed the issue early and was able to correct it before it became a larger problem.
The name New School Electric reflects how I approach electrical work today. “New School” means choosing to use the technology available to us now. Modern electrical technology allows homeowners to do things that were not possible just a few years ago, such as automated lighting, smart home systems, and energy monitoring tools.
New technology allows us to better understand how our homes function. Today homeowners can monitor electrical systems, track power consumption, and control certain features of their home through phone apps and computer software.
I have experience connecting electrical systems to monitoring platforms and cloud-based tools. This type of work often involves battery backup systems, smart electrical equipment, and other modern technologies that help homeowners understand how their homes consume power.
Being able to see how your home uses electricity can improve efficiency and give homeowners better control over their electrical systems.
One thing I consider very “new school” is the way I document my work.
When I complete an electrical installation or repair in your home, I create a digital folder for you. This folder contains photos of the work performed, including work inside electrical enclosures and other areas that normally remain hidden.
This allows homeowners to see exactly what work was done. It also ensures that installations inside panels and electrical boxes can be visually documented and verified even after the job is complete.
I believe homeowners should be able to see and understand the work performed in their homes, whether it is visible to the eye or not.
Over the years, I have learned that grounding is one of the most important parts of a home’s electrical system. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most overlooked.
In some homes, grounding systems may have deteriorated over time or may only meet the minimum installation allowed by code.
When I provide electrical services, I verify that your home has proper grounding in place. If grounding work is necessary, I make sure it is handled correctly and safely.
While many jurisdictions allow only the minimum grounding installation required by code, I often take it a step further to ensure the system performs the way it should.
